Principal Members
Anthony SIU

Principal of the firm. Mr. Siu obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate of Laws from the University of Hong Kong. He was admitted to practice as a solicitor of the High Court in Hong Kong in 1995. He later obtained the qualification to practice law in England and Wales and in the state of New York, as well as became a PRC practicing lawyer.

In addition, Mr. Siu is a China-Appointed Attesting Officer and Notary Public, an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) and Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.  He has also been appointed as the Chairman of the Appeal Board Panel of Consumer Goods Safety Ordinance (Cap. 456), the Chairman of the Appeal Tribunal Panel of Section 45 the Buildings Ordinance (Cap. 123) and a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel. 

Mr. Siu specializes in litigation and arbitration, including civil, criminal and complex crime matters.  He has wide experience in handling cross-border disputes involving Hong Kong, Mainland China and other countries, especially application for world-wide Mareva Injunctions and receivership order, committal order, judicial review, high profile complex commercial crime, personal injury claims and defamation claims.

Mr. Siu is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Cross-border contentious practice

Specializing in large-scale cross-border litigation and arbitration. Representing a property developer in Beijing Chao Yang District (now called the “No. 9 Gardens”) for over seven years in HCA 1216 of 2002 and CACV 347 of 2006.

Acted for wireless fixed telecommunications network services provider in various litigation cases under the Telecommunication Ordinance.

Acted for the Director of Legal Aid in his Judicial Review Appeal to the Court of Appeal regarding the Director’s decision in refusing to grant legal aid to certain Vietnamese asylum seekers.

Instructing Queen’s Counsel from England, Mr. David Joseph, Q.C. and other local senior Counsel to advise and appeal for the appellant, Xiamen Xin Jing Di Group Company Limited against Eton Group in CACA 158/2012; the appeal involves the engagement by all parties two Queen’s Counsel, seven local Senior Counsel and 8 junior Counsel.

Regulatory and related criminal practice

Acted for various Hong Kong listed companies and their management or associates in a number of investigations conducted by Securities and Futures Commission under Section 182 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, Cap. 571.

Acted for a number of implicated parties in various Insider Dealing Inquiries including the appeal of the Vanda Inquiry, the Harbour Ring Inquiry and the Siu Fung Ceramics Holdings Limited Inquiry.  The Siu Fung Ceramics Holdings Ltd. Inquiry lasted for more than 100 days and one of the implicated persons, Madam Dusanee for whom Mr. Siu represented was not identified as an insider dealer after the Inquiry.

Acted for three defendants in their defense of criminal prosecutions of conspiracy to defraud instituted by the Securities and Futures Commission regarding the acquisition of the listed company “Thompson Pacific”.  The trial of the case lasted for half a year and all the Defendants were acquitted by a unanimous verdict delivered by the Jury.

Acted for various defendants in Petition for winding up and the related legal proceedings in respect of the Hong Kong listed company (China Metal Recycling (Holdings) Limited) instituted by the Securities and Futures Commission under Section 212 of the Securities and Futures Ordinance, Cap. 571.

Alice LEUNG

Ms. Leung is the commercial and corporate partner with the firm, specializing in commercial, banking and corporate practices. She is the author of various leading practitioners’ references on and relating to corporate finance and company law. Apart from legal qualification which she obtained with distinction in 1995, Ms. Leung is a qualified chartered company secretary and Chartered Governance Professional.

Ms. Leung renders advices to large and local companies on various commercial and corporate matters of all levels, including compliance, capital markets, general offer, and M&A practices, company secretarial and commercial practices, application for securities license, shareholder disputes, winding up, liquidation and insolvency work. Apart from the above, Ms. Leung’s practices also includes advising companies and corporate clients on IPO and listing matters, restructuring, tax, employment and immigration. Ms. Leung takes pride in acting for different parties in various successful listing of companies in Hong Kong.

Ms. Leung is a practising notary public member of the Hong Kong Society of Notaries since 2006 and handles notarial acts from day to day. She is a China Appointed Attesting Officer since 2009. Ms. Leung has been appointed as a notary public member of the Notaries Public Disciplinary Tribunal Panel. Ms. Leung is also Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Company Secretaries and Administrators and The Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries. Apart from the above, Ms. Leung is a Reverse Mortgage Counsellor and a Civil Celebrant.

Her solid experience and in-depth knowledge in company and commercial law afford Ms. Leung with the technical know-how in helping clients in preparing commercial documentation, franchisee agreement, distribution agreement, joint venture agreement, escrow agreement and administration service agreement.

Ms. Leung takes up voluntary work to help the legal profession and the community. She renders pro bono advices on building management matters from time to time, and is the legal advisor to a building estates. Currently, she is a member of the Law Society’s Panel of solicitors to provide pro bono legal advisory services under the “Free Legal Advice Service on Building Management” of the Home Affairs Department.

Ms. Leung has been invited to write on legal practitioners texts, and is a contributor to several major legal practitioners’ references. She is the primary annotator for the practitioners’ text – The Hong Kong Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622)) (2013-2018), and is the author of Company Law in Hong Kong – Practice and Procedure (2014-2018). She is Contributing editor of Company Law in Hong Kong - Practice and Procedure (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, 2007) and is also the Co-author of the Hong Kong Court Forms (Butterworths, 2002), Title V, Companies (General). Most recently, she writes on the Bills of Exchange Ordinance: Commentary & Annotations (cap.19), which is the recommended text for the examination on notaries.

Terence CHIU

Partner of the firm. Mr. Chiu obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree, a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws and a Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Law from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Laws degree (China Law) from Peking University. 

Mr. Chiu’s areas of practice include securities law, corporate finance (including IPOs), mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity investments, information technology projects, cross-border corporate investments, sino-foreign joint venture projects, intellectual property protection, conveyancing as well as corporate and commercial law.  Mr. Chiu worked in both international and large scale law firms for nearly twenty years.  He has substantial experience in Hong Kong and overseas (including the USA, Canada and Singapore) IPO projects, listed companies compliance, secondary market financing and cross-border acquisitions.  Mr. Chiu has participated in projects involving various industries, such as highway, logistic, oil refining, power plant, real estate, telecommunication, travel, entertainment, hotel, electronic game, construction materials, automobile and golf course development.

Mr. Chiu is the author of a book known as “胜势:中国企业走出去的法律个案” which deals with legal issues involved in overseas restructuring, listing, mergers and acquisitions by Chinese enterprises and business migration and foreign investment by individuals.  The book provides useful information to entrepreneurs who aspire to invest in Hong Kong or abroad.

Apart from being a qualified solicitor of Hong Kong, Mr. Chiu is also a solicitor of England and Wales. He is also a China Appointed Attesting Officer appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC, a member of the Changchun Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a Civil Celebrant of Marriages of Hong Kong and a HKIAC Accredited Mediator. In relation to roles of social responsibilities, Mr. Chiu is a director or important member of various associations and organizations. Mr. Chiu was listed in Who’s Who of the HKSAR in 2004 and was recently awarded with Leading Lawyers 2013 in Mergers and Acquisitions by AsiaLaw.

Mr. Chiu is proficient in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Sam MOK

Partner of the firm. Mr. Mok obtained the Higher Diploma in Legal Studies from the City University of Hong Kong in 1993. He continued his studies in law and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University and the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Mok is specialized in litigation, succession law & matrimonial, and conveyancing matters. He handles litigation work which includes debt recovery, personal injuries, landlord and tenant matters, defamation cases, commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Mok has been working in litigation matters for more than ten years and has acquired intensive experience and substantial knowledge in litigation, contentious and non-contentious probate work, matrimonial proceedings.

Mr. Mok is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua, both spoken and written.

Steve WU

Partner of the firm. Mr. Wu graduated and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master of Laws degree from the University of London. He was admitted to practice as a solicitor of the High Court in Hong Kong in 1997.  He has also been an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and an Accredited Mediator (General) of Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre.

Mr. Wu has extensive experience in litigation, especially in personal injuries and insurance related cases. He has wide experience in acting for insurance companies, insured parties and victims in personal injury claims, including claims arising from different types of disaster cases. Mr. Wu has been advising and acting for insurance companies or insured parties in resolving disputes in relation to policy terms and conditions.

Mr. Wu also has substantial experience in acting for property management companies and incorporated owners in resolving disputes in building management matters. He also handles company shareholders’ disputes and company matters, employment matters, criminal cases, land and property claims, tenancy matters and matrimonial proceedings.

Mr. Wu is proficient in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Paul LO

Partner of the firm. Mr. Lo obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate certificate in Laws in the University of Hong Kong and Master of Arts (Translation) in the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr. Lo was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court in Hong Kong in 2005.

Mr. Lo specializes in China practice and has extensive experience in general commercial practice with cross-border elements. He has acted for Hong Kong and PRC banks on cross-border and multi-national loan deals, and has acted for private equity funds on local and cross-border merger and acquisition deals including due diligence, preparation of transaction documents in Chinese and English, obtaining approval from regulators, completion and post completion matters.

Mr. Lo has also been providing legal services to fintech companies including payment processing companies and card issuing companies, internet and e-commerce service providers. Such services include application for relevant licences such as money service operator licences, money lender licences, stored value facilities licences and virtual bank licences, and compliance after obtaining licences and dealing with regulators.

Apart from China practice, Mr. Lo has also had experience in handling African clients to start investments in Asia through and handling Chinese clients to invest in Africa through his network in Africa.

Mr. Lo is fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua and English.

Wilfred Tsui

Mr Wilfred Tsui is a Hong Kong practicing solicitor for more than 25 years. He has been involved in China-Hong Kong cross border commercial transactions such as merger and acquisitions, corporate matters, corporate governance, corporate finance and banking transactions. In merger and acquisitions, Mr Tsui discussed with clients on the potential target companies, participated in negotiation of the main terms of the transactions, conducted due diligence on the target companies, prepared the draft sale and purchase agreements, negotiated and finalized the sale and purchase agreements with the other party’s lawyers, prepared completion documents and assisted in the completion of the transactions.

In addition, Mr Tsui assisted clients to obtain working visas and commercial entry permits and apply for investment migration schemes. He has also advised clients on setting up of trust and funds to help clients to manage their wealth effectively.

For public services, Mr Wilfred Tsui has been serving as a Chairman of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings Ordinance) and a member of the Obscene Articles Tribunal for many years. He is also a council member of the Association of China-Appointed Attesting Officers Limited.

Mr Tsui is an independent non-executive director of a Hong Kong listed company, and an arbitrator of the Shenzhen International Arbitration Court as well as the Hainan International Arbitration Court. He also serves as the honorary legal advisers of the Hong Kong Real Estate Federation and the Hong Kong Association for Testing, Inspection and Certification.

Stella Cheng

Partner of the firm. Ms. Cheng obtained her LL.B and PCLL from City University of Hong Kong.

After being admitted to practice in Hong Kong in 2011, Ms. Cheng focuses her practice on private client matters. Throughout her practice in the past decade, Ms. Cheng has accumulated extensive experience in advising clients on all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, pre-nuptial/post-nuptial agreements, child care and custody, financial applications as well as third party interests. Ms. Cheng’s other areas of practice include Will drafting and probate services. Ms. Cheng also has experience in handling bankruptcy, liquidation and general civil litigation matters.

Ms. Cheng’s experience include: Acting for an individual in divorce proceedings involving jurisdiction / forum disputes and to facilitate negotiations between the parties with complicated asset holding structures including trusts and division of assets in various jurisdictions; Being a member of the legal team for a high net worth client in the divorce proceedings which involved multiple third parties and millions of assets worldwide; Advising a Mainland PRC individual on and drafting a “worldwide” prenuptial agreement involving assets in multiple jurisdictions and to co-ordinate with PRC lawyers in drafting an “inside PRC” prenuptial agreement; Assisting the trustees of the property of a bankrupt with the property worth more than HKD250m; Being a member of the legal team acting for the liquidator of a company in litigation for recovery of assets including shares of a listed company with substantial value.

Ms. Cheng is a native Mandarin speaker and is also fluent in Cantonese and English.

Alex KWAN

Partner of the firm. Mr. Kwan has been practicing as a solicitor in Hong Kong since 2008. Mr. Kwan specializes in civil litigation/dispute resolutions and conveyancing matters including company/shareholders’ disputes, insolvency/bankruptcy matters, debts and contractual disputes, international arbitrations and legal matters about general and large scale landed property transactions in Hong Kong. He also handles matrimonial matters and criminal matters from time to time.

Mr. Kwan graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Engineering degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Thereafter, he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree and PCLL from the Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Kwan is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Barbara SIU

Litigation Partner of the firm. Ms. Siu graduated under the first-class honour with two scholarships awarded in her first bachelor degree at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Thereafter, she completed LLB at the University of London as her second degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She also completed an MBA programme at Macquarie University, Sydney.

Ms. Siu develops a broad civil and commercial practice. She specializes in commercial litigation, with experience in handling probate and big-money matrimonial cases. She had involved in acting for the joint executors of the Will of a deceased person with a prominent business in a heavily fought probate action previously. She also assisted in acting successfully for the Hong Kong comedy legend Mr. Stephen Chiau Sing Chi in a long legal dispute with his ex-girlfriend who sued him for investment “commissions”.

Ms. Siu is fluent in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Jenny CHOW

A partner in the civil litigation team. She joined the firm in 2011 after graduating from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She works principally on commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolutions. She resolves legal issues in commercial litigation, white collar criminal law, regulatory matters, contractual disputes, debt recovery, employment disputes among other practice areas. She works with a range of clients including high net-worth client and corporate client. She also advises on internet fraud, probate, matrimonial and regulatory matters.

Kelvin KWAN

Consultant of the firm. Mr. Kwan graduated and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong, a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science of University of London and a Master of Laws degree (PRC Law) from the City University of Hong Kong. Mr. Kwan specializes in corporate finance, cross-border transactions, joint venture agreement and has handled a number of the listing projects including the listings of China Agrotech Holdings Ltd which is the first company listed on the GEM board, Syscan Technology Holdings Ltd which is the first Silicon Valley company listed on the GEM board, Xinjiang Tianye Water Saving Irrigation System Co., Ltd., Biosino Bio–Technology and Science Incorporation, Everpride Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Angels Transport Technology Company Limited, Golden Meditech Company Limited, Zheda Lande Scitech Ltd , Emer International Group Limited and Central China Real Estate Limited. Mr. Kwan is a specialist in these areas with extensive experience. His main clients include multinational corporations like Hitachi and MF Jebsen group.

Mr. Kwan is proficient in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

C.M. CHAN

Consultant of the firm. Mr. Chan is a solicitor qualified in Hong Kong (admitted in 1997) and in England & Wales (admitted in 2002). Mr. Chan was elected as President of the Law Society of Hong Kong in August 2021

Mr. Chan is a Hong Kong Tax & Trust Lawyer and he also practices general commercial work. Mr. Chan has extensive experience in advising high net-worth clients and corporations in relation to their asset management, trust, succession and tax planning matters. He was an in-house legal adviser of different Family Offices for Hong Kong prominent families.

Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of East London, a Master of Law (LLM) degree from London School of Economics, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Oxford and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University. Mr. Chan is also a Hong Kong Civil Celebrant, a Hong Kong Chartered Tax Adviser, and a Hong Kong Registered Financial Planner.

Mr. Chan was the founding Chairman of the In-House Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong. Mr. Chan also sits on a number of Hong Kong statutory boards and Government Bodies including The Advisory Committee of the Social Welfare Department Special Needs Trust, Board of Review (Inland Revenue) (2011-2019), the Committee on Provision of Space in the Legal Hub, Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Disciplinary Panel and Social Workers Registration Board Qualification Assessment Panel. In 2012, Mr. Chan was elected as a Member of the 13th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (Jinan Committee). As a strong advocate for family philanthropy and charities, Mr. Chan acts as member or honorary legal adviser of a number of NGOs in Hong Kong including as the Senior Consultant of the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute, Steering Committee member of Wisegiving of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Committee member of the Hong Kong Football Association. He is an External Examiner of the Department of Professional Legal Education of the University of Hong Kong. Mr. Chan served on the International Bar Association Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (2007-2012) and LAWASIA as Country Councilor (2016 - present).

Walter Lee

Consultant of the firm. Mr Lee has been practising as a solicitor in Hong Kong since 1993. He also became a solicitor of England and Wales (non-practising) in 1995, a Member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch in 2000, and a Notary Public in 2020. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong and Master of Laws from University of London.

Before joining the firm, Mr Lee gained more than a quarter-century of professional experience in commercial dispute resolution in other firms, including shareholders’ disputes, breach of fiduciary duties of directors, breach of commercial agreements, and commercial fraud. He has extensive experience in litigation, arbitration, and mediation. He regularly advises banks in complex loan recovery actions and various compliance issues, as well as liquidators and provisional liquidators in insolvency and restructuring. Apart from commercial disputes, he also advises employers, including listed companies, universities and public institutions on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, discrimination cases, privacy and data protection law, providing strategic advice and drafting documentation. He also has experience in mental health law and has advised professional committees of mentally incapacitated persons in some multi-billion-dollar cases in courts.

Mr Lee was recognised by AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers as Distinguished Practitioner in Dispute Resolution in 2020, and was named in Benchmark Litigation (published by Euromoney) in 2020. He is Chairperson of the Employment Law Committee and a member of the Mental Health Committee of The Law Society of Hong Kong. He is also Director of The Hong Kong Children’s Choir.

Mr Lee has a passion in legal writing. As early as in 2002, he and Ms Alice Leung, partner of the firm, jointly authored Hong Kong Court Forms (later renamed Atkin’s Court Form Hong Kong), Title: Companies (General), LexisNexis Butterworths (1st issue: 2002). His recent publication includes “Discrimination Law”, “Data Processing and Transfer” and some other chapters under Lexis Practical Guidance.

Winnie Ng

Consultant of the firm. Winnie graduated with a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree and a Master of Law (LLM) degree from the University of Warwick and the University of Bristol respectively. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, and England and Wales (non-practising).

Winnie is a legal expert in employment, data privacy and discrimination. She had over 15 years of practicing experience in international law firms in Hong Kong, and was a Legal Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) respectively. With litigation experience, Winnie advises on both contentious and non-contentious matters.

Winnie has extensive experience in advising financial institutions, credit rating agencies, statutory bodies, government departments and local or multi-national corporations on a wide range of employment, data privacy and discrimination related issues (including hiring and termination, post-termination restrictions, employee benefits, stock options, bonus schemes, secondment, transfer of employment in mergers or acquisitions, cost-cutting measures, redundancy, regional employment projects, investigations involving employee fraud and breach of confidence, investigations against employees by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, appeals lodged with the Administrative Appeals Board and complaints lodged with the EOC and PCPD in relation to discrimination, sexual harassment, data protection, data leakage and direct marketing).

Winnie drafts and reviews all types of employment documentation such as offer letters, employment contracts, employee handbooks, policies and procedures, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, separation and release documentation, personal information collection statements, privacy policies, data breach notification, anti-discrimination/sexual harassment policies, responses and statements made to the EOC or PCPD and documentation lodged with the Labour Tribunal or Courts in relation to employment disputes.

Winnie presented seminars on various aspects of employment, data privacy and anti-discrimination laws for HR professionals and in-house counsel. She also has experience in providing in-house training to managers and employees.

Born in Hong Kong and educated in both Hong Kong and England, Winnie speaks English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Zoe AU

Associate of the firm. Ms. Au graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She later obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Manchester Metropolitan University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong. She was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2016.

Ms. Au has extensive experience in litigation, especially in personal injuries, employees’ compensation and insurance related litigation. She possesses experience in acting for insurance companies, insured parties and victims in personal injury claims, including claims arising from different types of disaster cases. She advises and acts for insurance companies or insured parties in resolving disputes in relation to policy terms and conditions.

Ms. Au also handles matrimonial and family related proceedings, intellectual property matters including non-contentious and contentious trade mark cases in Hong Kong, China and other jurisdictions, and all general types of civil litigation cases. She handles criminal cases as well.

Ms. Au is proficient in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Vivian LAM

Associate of the firm. Ms. Lam graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Law), a Bachelor of Laws and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws.

Ms. Lam specialises in civil litigation, arbitration and private client matters, with emphasis on areas such as commercial disputes, injunction applications, bankruptcy / winding-up proceedings, cross-border enforcement actions and probate matters (both contentious and non-contentious). Ms. Lam also advises individuals and families on issues ranging from estate planning and wills to complex trust structures to achieve asset protection and family succession objectives.

Ms. Lam is proficient in English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

Monica WAN

Associate of the firm. Ms. Wan develops her practice in civil and commercial litigation and arbitration with focuses on high value, multi-jurisdictional shareholder related disputes in complex structure involving offshore and listed companies, winding up/bankruptcy proceedings, cross-border enforcement actions and contentious probate matters. Ms. Wan also assists in acting for clients in corporate and commercial matters generally including M&A, compliance etc.

Ms. Wan has dual legal education and qualification in both the mainland China and Hong Kong. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree (First Class Honours) from the Manchester Metropolitan University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from The University of Hong Kong. Before Ms. Wan becomes a qualified Solicitor in Hong Kong, she has passed China Bar and obtained the Legal Professional Qualification.

Ms. Wan is a native Mandarin speaker who is also fluent in English and Cantonese.

Forrest Ye

Associate of the firm. Mr. Ye graduated from City University of Hong Kong with a JD degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws. He also graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law before obtaining his LLM degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Ye specializes in cross-border civil litigations and arbitrations, in particular the cases involve the laws of both Hong Kong and mainland China.

Mr. Ye has been qualified as a PRC lawyer since October 2016.

Mr. Ye is a native Mandarin speaker and also fluent in English.

Bobo Chan

Associate of the firm. Ms. Chan graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws.

Ms. Chan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an HKIAC accredited tribunal secretary. She has also completed an internship at the HKIAC and has worked as an assistant to an arbitrator, where she assisted in various international arbitrations.

Ms. Chan’s practice focuses on civil litigation and arbitration, including commercial and contractual disputes, land-related disputes, commercial fraud, enforcement of arbitral awards, applications for injunction, bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings, shareholders’ disputes and contentious probate matters.

Ms. Chan also has experience in handling white collar crime cases and SFC investigations.

Ms. Chan is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Elliott CHEN

Registered foreign lawyer of the firm. Mr. Chen graduated from Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University Law School and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is a member of China Maritime Law Association and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Mr. Chen was selected by Ministry of Justice of PRC and was sponsored to participate in the Lord Chancellor’s Training Scheme for Young Lawyers in UK.

Mr. Chen specializes in PRC corporate and commercial practice. He has assisted foreign clients with direct investments in China in WOFE, Join Venture and Cooperative Join Venture enterprises. He has also assisted local and foreign clients on cross-border investment, equity transaction, merge and acquisitions and corporate finance. Mr. Chen has an extensive experience in Venture Capital and Private Equity transaction. He has handled a number of VC/PE transactions in China, especially in the field of mining, telecommunication, logistics, manufacture, consuming, infrastructure and commercial property.

Mr. Chen is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Vera GAO

Ms. Gao is a registered foreign lawyer of the firm. Ms. Gao has extensive practical experience in the fields of new economy and Internet, data compliance, as well as equity and tax financing. She is also an accredited trainer of Data Protection Officer (DPO) certified by the Examination Institute for Information Science (EXIN).

Ms. Gao specializes in legal services in the vertical areas of data, tax and marketing. She proposed special legal services for data compliance as a piece of compliance equipment for a successful IPO for the first time, and has been deeply engaged in legal services in business compliance of new economy and Internet platforms, data compliance (including data outbound transfer, data compliance audit, AIGC compliance, and compliance assessment of listing on data exchanges, etc.), as well as equity and tax financing. She has acted as the legal advisor for many top new economy platforms and big data unicorns, and has successfully assisted the first big data platform in Mainland China engaged in corporate credit business to pass the data exit security assessment.

Ms. Gao has opened a column "New Economy and Law" in the Paper Institute, and authored a monograph in the field of data compliance titled “From Compliance to Triumph: Mastering Data Compliance Management”, and the first compliance monograph on gig economy compliance titled “Guidance of Legal Compliance for Gig Economy Platform”. She also authored white papers such as “A Guide to Data Compliance for Business Listings (50 Questions)” and “Compliance Practices of Data Outbound Transfer - 30 Compliance Q&A and 10 Practical Cases”, etc.

Ms. Gao obtained her Bachelor's degree in Economics from Zhejiang University and her Master's degree in Law from Fudan University.

Ms. Gao's working language is English and Chinese.
